Guest Shots & Demo Decks

Looks like Brent Spiner will be playing Dr. Soong. That makes the good doctor a very very old man by the time he dies in TNG 🙂 Also, it looks like we’ll get William Shatner in the fourth season, though probably not Captain Kirk.

Over GenCon weekend, we released two Demo Deck pdf files and a rules sheet for the new Wars game. Certain artistic types may find this useful as reference material, others may want to try out the game. Michael Stackpole’s first Wars-universe fiction is posted too.

Overheard at platypusgirl‘s party: “Looks like AbsorbentRobert RectangularTrousers is on Nickolodeon right now.”

I am reassembling the broken display hinges of a Titanium PowerBook. This is clearly not something Apple meant me to do.

It talks about Dr. Soong being the creator of biological lifeforms instead though, not androids??

  • Mikhail says:

Maybe he started with biologicals, and moved to androids for ethical or practical reasons.

They might tie it in with the whole Eugenics Wars thing, too.

  • pathia says:

That was exactly my thought too, something along these lines.

1.) Dr. Soong Sr creates Khaaaaaaaan
2.) Dr. Soong Jr/III or whatever, decided not to repeat ‘sins of the father’ and makes artificial life instead of improved biological

  • pathia says:

Of course, thinking over again. He could have started on biologicals as you said and found a way to make himself live 300years to continue his experiments?

  • rattrap says:

Actually, the Dr. Soong Brent will be playing is an ancestor of Noonian (not sure how many generations removed) who dabbled in Eugenics, using cell samples obtained from Khan and Co. while they were still on Earth. Creates a serious mess for Archer and Company to clean up. In fact, it will be a mini-arc from what I’ve been hearing.

    Hmm…

Maybe this is what caused Noonian to explore artificial lifeforms instead of organic ones.

In a recent interview, Manny Coto commented that on his watch, Enterprise will be what we’ve all been wanting- a bridge between First Contact and Classic Trek. We’re also going to meet the Orions fore the first time, and experience a “Vulcan Reformation” which will lead to a societal change to the Vulcans of Trek Classic.

I think the show is now headed in the right direction. We can only wait and see how they deliver, and if it’s enough, in time.

I just bopped over to TrekWeb and read their Manny Coto interview. I have to admit, I’m impressed. Anyone who remembers TOS well enough to try to work Colonel Green and Stratos into scripts will get a fair chance from me. Heck, they should have had this guy on staff from day one.
