The latest bill that Hollywood is pushing through Congress would, if they suspect you of piracy, allow them to hack your system, disable your file sharing, and delete things they don’t like.

Oh, and if they delete the wrong stuff or break something else on your machine, you probably can’t sue.

So, I’m thinking that next time Hollywood lobbyists do something I don’t like, I should have the right to break into their house and smash stuff up for a while. Seems only fair.

*shakes head* I hate Hollywood executives, they’re what gives the rst of the town a bad name. Honestly, I think most artists understand that getting your name out is just as important as getting that damn few dollars you get from somebody buying a movie ticket.

I don’t like people downloading movies instead of going to the theatre. However, I would rather just tell people I don’t agree with it than go after them because that’s just the road to bad press. Because I know I won’t buy CDs from bands that went after Napster if I can help it, because they’re stupid.

Oi. Hollywood. How stupid you tend to be.

The same bill got fought down last time they proposed it as being a bad idea. Of course that was pre 9/11 and the shift in mood to “Anything the authorities want to do to you is for your own good, dammit”, as well as before several billion in lobbying money.

However, I’d certainly write or call your representative and point out you violently dislike the decriminalization of terrorist acts for entertainment interests. I believe all of the house has email now, and they *do* read it and take note of what it says. Won’t count as much as a paper note with a stamp, but I always get the standard ‘Yea, we got the note, and it’s been stuck in the bucket with the rest of the notes from people with your opinion, and we’re waiting to see which bucket is heavier” sort of note from them. Send a note to boucher too, he’s on this like a pit bull, and can always use more ammo. I’ve told him before that I’m tempted to move into his district just so I can vote for him.

That’s an excellent suggestion, I believe I’ll be doing just that. Thanks!
