Must – Control – Jaws – of Death…

The cat wishes everyone to know that he was highly paid for this television appearance. The hamster… would like some more carrot bits please.

Game blogger Tobold suggests that WoW players would reach endgame with far better raiding skills if there were quests where you had to practice raiding with sets of NPCs. Aside from the time pressures, one reason I don’t do instances is that I’m not very good at them, and I think this is a fine idea. When I do have to hit an instance dungeon for a quest, I usually end up in the company of several far-higher-levelled guild mates, and my presence becomes a bit unnecessary. This idea would mitigate the problem a bit.

rhaps and shrewlet are coming down this weekend, which is a good thing because my Technicon experience was extremely rushed. I envy Rhaps’ new iMac, which is the same model as my Mom’s. But I’ll have my Mac Pro soon enough.

Paying bills, finishing paperwork, getting all sorts of ducks in a row this week. (They were sitting out front again this morning, enjoying the humid weather.) It all feels good. Also: new blender yay 🙂

I think learning instances is less about ability or skills and more about finding a group of people willing to learn together and actually not play the blame game. PuG’s fall apart and groups fail not because they wipe (we all wipe) but because most of them would rather blame someone else (hello healer!) than try and figure out what actually went wrong. There are a lot of instance encounters with a lot going on, sure, but there are also plenty of dead simple ones that if someone is watching more than the cooldown timer on their UI they can see exactly what went wrong.

Of course, I’m the healing leader for a guild raiding T5/T6 content so you probably can’t trust me anyway. 🙂

I don’t raid because I don’t have the time to devote to a guild, and it takes forever to get a PuG going. And then, of course, PuGs are so intensely variable it’s sometimes infuriating. And you’ll get most of the people you need, then one of the ones you already have will have to go and….

Ergh. But then any guild seems to want you to play all the time, which I just can’t do, either.

Mine’s MTW, 6:30pm-10:30pm and the rest of the week I do whatever. So basically, instead of watching TV on weeknights I raid. Most weeks I play on Thursday night and maybe once a month on Friday as well (farming, 10-person or 5-person stuff, or just chatting), but I almost never log on during the weekend. So I think I’m in a good place.

That’s definitely not bad, though there’s Waltzing and Swing Dancing available to me on Monday and Tuesday nights respectively, if I’m so inclined. Having weekends free is nice, though.

Speaking of ducks, I almost hit one driving around the Duckpond today. I think he was headed back from a quick round on the golf course. Must have been a long one because apparently his wings were tired.
