Cruel, cruel cable masters

The Sci-Fi Channel Loves Me! They are showing an original Bruce Campbell movie next year. Who cares if it sucks like most SFC movies; Campbell is a man who can make nearly anything watchable. If he’d been in Battlefield: Earth, I might not have wanted to projectile vomit while in the theater.

The Sci-Fi Channel Hates Me! (same article) They plan to do a miniseries next year of Larry Niven’s Ringworld. Excuse me while I curl up in a ball and whimper.

    From Bruce Campbell Online:

Role: “William Cole “, Writer, Producer, Director
    Release Date: 2005

“Man with the Screaming Brain is a story of greed, betrayal and revenge in the former Eastern European block. William Cole, wealthy industrialist, goes looking for a tax shelter in the wrong part of the world and winds up the guinea pig for a mad scientist, having his brain merged with that of Yegor, a former KGD operative. The two couldn’t be more different, but they share one thing – both were killed by the same woman. William and Yegor form an unlikely partnership to track down their common nemesis. If I were pitching it in Hollywood, I’d say it’s The Out-of-Towners with a brain transplant.” -BC

Not to mention a miniseries of “Earthsea”, too.

At least they’ll be making four more episodes of “Farscape”.

I’ve also seen a distinct lack of LJ interest in the fact that Lucas has released the official title for the next Star Wars film: “Revenge of the Sith”. (It’s almost over…it’s almost over…)

Heh, I read that this weekend and immediately didn’t care. Yeah, original title, George.

Considering the “rough around the edges, but very watchable” quality of some of the fan stuff coming out, Hollywood fantasy and sci-fi had better straighten up or soon we won’t need them any more.

I kind of hope it is just lazyness on George’s part. I wish I’d noticed it myself, but someone pointed out that the title shortens down to “RotS”. Hopefully that’s not a not-too-subtle comment on the quality of the film. 9.9

Maybe Sci-Fi could hedge their bets, and cast Bruce in the Ringworld mini. πŸ˜€

Of course, there is the chance that the Ringworld miniseries will actually be good. There is unfortunately a much larger chance it will really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, suck. With virtually no chance to be anywhere in between.

    *sigh*

Now that I’ve seen Bubba Ho-Tep, I would be willing to watch Bruce as Louis Wu. They could do a lot worse.

Nice use of “really”, by the way.

Thanks. πŸ™‚ The sad part is that each “really” represents a Sci Fi Channel movie I saw, in whole or in part. Half of which starred Matt Frewer. 9.9 Ahhh, Matt. You showed such promise, once upon a time.

Thanks also for reminding me that I absolutely must pick up a copy of “Bubba Ho-Tep.” I already knew I was going to, but I’ve got some extra cash this month. πŸ™‚
