One foot in front of the other

Cyberpunk decker, from Rising Star something-something New favorite bookmark – Gmaps Pedometer. Turns out that the round trip here at work that I’ve been estimating at 1.25 miles is actually 1.11, and I burned ~190 calories making the trip (or most of one 20oz Coke).

I’m really tired of my spare tire. Not only is it forcing me to get rid of perfectly decent clothes, but a couple weeks ago I was winded just coming up a flight of stairs. This is unacceptable! I am now trying to get at least a mile of walking in every day. I think it’s time to try Diet Coke again, as well.

This old convention photo shows how I was built back in the late 80s. Many people these days don’t believe this is a picture of me! I think the hair will stay a memory, and my shoulders are permanently broadened by the crutches, but I’d like my chin back, and the ability to see my belt buckle. I really feel that I can do this.

Hmmm, the pedometer says that walking from my apartment to the nearby dog groomer and back is a mile. Think I’ll be doing that one on weekends.

I actually prefer Diet Coke at this point. When i taste real coke it taste grossly too sweet.

I am confident I won’t have my late-80s figure back ever again; it would be unheathy. But I would be overjoyed to have my late-90s figure back!

    Augh!

I read your title and had Rankin-Bass flashbacks!

  • Mikhail says:

LOL. I confess, that’s what was running through my head when I titled the thing 🙂

Diet Coke with Splenda isn’t too terrible. Also, Sprite Zero is pretty good. Coke Cherry Zero for the win, though.

Wow! You were skinnier than was back then!!

I wouldn’t mind my late 80s weight back, if I could keep the ‘curve proportion’ the same. And I’m sure my back and knees would love me for it.

I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes and started drinking diet drinks. I’ve now lost 10 lbs, all without even exercising!

  • Funny thing is, I remember that costume. In fact, I used to have a beta video tape with that costume call from RoVaCon when you introduced that one …

  • Mikhail says:

Was that costume from a RoVaCon? I thought it was an early Salem Civic Center Rising Star.

    Man, it’s all getting blurry.

  • Mikhail says:

Star drinks Sprite Zero, but I need the caffeine. Maybe I’ll try ditching caffeine after I get used to the diet drinks 🙂

  • Mikhail says:

Yeah, it’s not really about the weight, my weight’s okay. I just want it to sit in different places 🙂

    Gonna be positive about this!

  • Mikhail says:

I used to bike everywhere, which I’m no longer allowed to do because of injury. Man, I could eat anything I wanted back when that was my main mode of transportation.

If I really want to burn calories, one mile a day is only a start. Gotta put some long-range thought into this…

  • Mikhail says:

Wow! Glad you’re doing great on the drinks. I’m a little worried about diabetes myself – hope you keep handling it so well!

Cool…our lunch walk-route came to just under six miles.

One lap around the building 🙂

  • Mikhail says:

Good lord. I just finished off a lunch mile, and it took me 20 minutes. Either you walk much faster than me, or you have a much longer lunch-hour. Or both!

  • epawtows says:

Oops, sorry, 3 miles, I accidentally doubled it.

It takes us ~45 minutes, and is more like something we do before going home, not during lunch.
