“http” = “ftp”?

That’s just weird. The link to Tom’s comics is displaying wrong in my journal. Every time I go to edit it, it reads “http”, but on my journal entries page, it reads “ftp”. There’s a glitch somewhere. The correct link, assuming this doesn’t glitch too, is Wiikii Paradise. Edit: It’s still glitching. Someone at LJ’s got a code issue somewhere. I swear I typed “http” both times.

Game text: “Sacrifice personal pride to play this card”

Re: my earlier whine about collectible games…

Just played two games of ./Hack//Enemy with one of my co-workers over lunch. I lost them both, but I didn’t humiliate myself. Even he admitted that I just got some bad card draws. So now I feel better.

I need to see if we have some spare Marvel Hero Clix, he wants to play some games of that. If not, I’ll buy some next week.

Dinner with Captain Paisley

Saturday night I had dinner with Tom Monaghan and his wife, Donna. We had a good time catching up on stuff, seeing what the other’s been up to, trading trivia found on Slashdot, that sort of thing. Tom’s even posted some new Wiikii strips on his website, Wiikii Paradise. I think he (or maybe Wiikii) should get a LiveJournal.

Other than that, it’s been a slow week. All this week, I get home at 7, eat dinner, and just don’t feel like doing much besides reading. As soon as I get my next paycheck, I’m going to get some model supplies and build and review the Klingon ship model for Jerry. Of course, tomorrow night I’ll be back on I-64 / I-81 for the trip to Blacksburg (with stopovers in Salem both ways).

While I still believe that 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the most beautiful and realistic space movies ever made, I think I become more critical of its other aspects upon every viewing. I’m beginning to agree with the folk who say that Hal 9000 actually has far more personality than the two human astronauts on Discovery. Guys, you could be out-acted by Thunderbirds puppets – come on!

We should rewrite the script so we win

Mirage crew

All three completed Space Rogues episodes, plus the blooper reel, have now been posted on the movies page of my website. Yes, they are QuickTime, and yes, they are huge files so you’ll need broadband. I tried MPEGing them and DivXing them, and they didn’t get smaller either way. One day, I hope to generate new movies from cleaner originals.

I’ve only been meaning to post these for years.

Not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

The first private manned spaceflight occured today over the Mojave Desert in California.

I honestly believe we’ve just increased the alotted lifespan of the human race a bit. D.D. Harriman would be proud.

Hand’s not here.

I’d like to echo sentiments posted by snidegrrl a few months back: morning radio, shut up and play some damn music! I don’t mind headlines, I appreciate the weather, I can even deal with sports scores. But I don’t want to hear your views on welfare, library fines, or your cute little call-in battle of the sexes. Play some music! It’s your own fault that I’m not listening to your advertisers – I waited for 10 minutes, but finally gave up and switched over to my mp3 player which never makes me listen to anyone’s opinion.

On the other hand, it’s a cloudless, low-humidity 70 degrees this morning, so the start of the day isn’t all that bad. And I finally fixed the space bar on my work keyboard.

One can play the Lord of the Rings CCG online, buying virtual starter decks and boosters and playing 24/7 against people all over the globe. The tutorial is free, runs on OS X and Windows, and it looked like an easy way to learn the game, so I downloaded it. I’ve played 10 games, and been wiped out every time. Am I just not any good at collectible games? Does my brain just not have the correct logic paths? I know I’m a newbie playing against a computer, but still I thought I’d have won once. Or maybe even just barely lost. *sigh*

Entry-level Tolkien fans, save yourself some time! The Silmarillion in 1000 Words Surprisingly accurate, too.

Attacked by energy vampires

Last night I had another “dead” night, where I collapsed soon after I got into bed. I’m not sure what to blame it on – yesterday was a stressful day; I spent a lot of the day outside in humid 90-degree temperatures; or it may have just been the position of Mars in respect to Vega.

I feel awake this afternoon, we’ll see how long it lasts.

Nothing much going on this weekend. Everyone I’ve contacted down here is busy, but a quiet weekend might be a good thing – I haven’t had one of those in a while!

Yes, it’s the comments thing

I couldn’t help myself. The power of lemmings compels me! The power of lemmings compels me!

I lj-cut it, at least

I should never have asked him to grow *those* plants

For the Final Fantasy XI players: what happens if you push your moogle too far.

MacHall (if you’re tuning in late, you want the Wed. June 16, 2004 issue)

Almost makes me wish I could play Morrowind.

I thought I’d been feeling more mellow than usual

We regret to announce the untimely demise of Mikhail, who on the 19th of April of this year was savagely bored to death by passing aliens. This unfortunate incident occurred in an anthill behind an outhouse. The deceased was reported to have shouted “Cripes!” just before expiring. Mikhail is survived by a bunch of cats, who could really care less. Funeral services will be held the 3rd of next month.
